When I was contacted to participate in this project, I felt incredibly honored to be included. I had heard from a few others that Jisun's bread was delicious, and I was hoping to be able to taste it. The moment the bread was delivered, we cut into it right away and had a delicious warm slice with some salted butter while we stood in the kitchen. We actually decided to have tomato soup for dinner so that we could enjoy the bread - we designed our entire dinner around the bread experience.

We were able to eat the bread two more times, once as a lunch during a particularly busy day, and finally as a breakfast toasted in the oven. We felt grateful for each of these meals and the opportunity to appreciate each other and the generosity of a good friend.

The image I included is my plate after the final slice of bread. It felt so satisfying to finish the loaf knowing that it sustained us over so many days. Yet, there was also a bit of sadness that the experience was over. There's something extra special about sourdough bread - the idea that the sourdough persists and thrives even when part of it is taken and fed with new flour. It's recreated over and over again, and we get to share in the experience that others have had enjoying bread from the same mother. Just as we share our Mother Earth, and just like we all share the friendship of a talented baker who cares for and bakes scrumptious loaves of homemade bread.
